October 5, 2007 - We've had some light onshore winds the past few days which has brought a ton of dorado inshore. Nice ones too! Just look for floating debris or currents. New pics will be posted soon. Our friends to the north have still been hooking up with wahoo.

September 25, 2007 - We've been having a lot of rain these past few days which is maybe the reason the bait fish have been hard to find. The commodore went out a couple days ago and only hooked up with a dorado while fishing inshore. There have been jacks and mackerel inshore. And rooster fish if you can find live bait.
Two weekends ago there was a one day tournament out of San Juan del Sur. Most of the boats stayed inshore. The catch of the day was probably the 50+ pound wahoo. There was only one sailfish released and a bunch of others raised or lost during the fight. And there were lots of jacks and mackerel caught.
Some friends to the north have been hooking up with lots of wahoo and yellowfin tuna these past couple weeks. So make sure you book a full day trip to make the run up north!
This past sunday a bunch of friends and I went exploring (fun fishing) for a little while in an estaury to the north of San Juan del Sur. We caught a bunch of snapper, the biggest one shown in the picture above. I still haven't seen JC catch a fish. ha ha ha ha!

September 4, 2007 - San Juan del Sur are now feeling some effects from hurricane Felix. The onshore winds just started blowing hard onshore, even though the hurricane has lost strength once it it the north eastern coast of Nicaragua. The first sailboat has just broken off its morring buoy and has landed on the beach! Hopefully that's the only boat that will break loose.
We went fishing yesterday for a half day trip and only hooked up with one sailfish a couple miles out with a skirted split tailed mullet. Unfortunately it came un-hooked a fter a few good jumps. We tried around a rock island in the north for some roosters but came up with nothing. Just a few bites. It was a little difficult nagivating close to the rock with the bigger than everage swell. A private boat to the south did manage to pull two rooster fish in.
Today a local and hand-liner brought in some nice grouper. two of them were at least 40 pounds!!!

August 31, 2007 - There has been a slight onshore wind for a while now. Which has caused us to have some nice debris lines just a couple miles out loaded with dorado, and the occasional yellowfin tuna. Every now and then the sailfish show up in pacs, inshore too. Around the rocks the casting is still good for rooster fish, jacks, hound fish, and mackerel. There's another tournament coming up in the middle of Sept!
August 22, 2007 – Since the last report there have been a bunch of nice wahoo caught, more dorado are around, yellowfin here and there, and sailfish. One boat reported hooking up with a marlin inshore. There also been lots of jack crevalle and roosterfish around the rocks.
Monday was a pretty good day. We caught a lot of fish on surface poppers using spinning gear. We got a lot of good top water action footage for a promotional video. There were tons of roosters around the rocks with some jacks and giant hound fish mixed in. At one spot we had at least ten roosterfish chasing after the popper. A nice little yellowfin tuna was caught on a popper too! Sashimiiiiii! A couple miles out we found a nice debris line with lots of dorado. We even managed to raise a sailfish, but couldn’t get it to bite. I will be posting some new pics soon.
